divine status

Being a god

Divine status is the condition of being regarded as a god or having godlike qualities.

Historically, rulers claimed divine status to legitimize their authority: The pharaohs held divine status in ancient Egypt.

The term also describes the elevation of mortals to godhood through worship or mythological tradition: Augustus was granted divine status after his death.
