Marketing media clips

Adverts is the British term for advertisements—commercials on television, notices in newspapers, promotional content online: I saw an advert for that new restaurant.

The word is standard in British English but sounds foreign to American ears, who say ads.

As a verb, to advert is a formal way of saying to refer or call attention to something: She adverted to his earlier remarks.
