acclimatize
Get used to
To acclimatize is to adjust to new conditions, especially climate or altitude.
Travelers acclimatize to time zones; mountaineers acclimatize to thin air before attempting summits.
The word extends to any gradual adaptation: It took me a few weeks to acclimatize to the new job.
Also spelled acclimate, which is more common in American English.
