expatriate
Abroad-dwelling citizen
An expatriate is someone living outside their native country, whether by choice or circumstance.
The term often implies a prolonged stay rather than brief travel: a community of American expatriates in Paris.
As a verb, to expatriate is to leave one's country or to banish someone from theirs.
The clipped form expat is common in casual use.
