acclimatise

Adjust to conditions

Acclimatise is the British spelling of acclimatize—to adjust to new conditions, especially climate or environment.

Plants acclimatise to different soil; people acclimatise to altitude, temperature, or unfamiliar surroundings: It took me a week to acclimatise to the humidity.

The word extends to any gradual adjustment: She's still acclimatising to her new role.
