sabra
Thorny desert fruit
A sabra is a Jewish person born in Israel, as opposed to one who immigrated.
The term comes from the Hebrew word for prickly pear cactus—tough and thorny on the outside, sweet within—suggesting native Israelis are rough in manner but warm underneath.
Her parents came from Poland, but she's a sabra.
