Independence Day
Freedom celebration date
Independence Day is the American national holiday on July 4th, commemorating the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
It's marked by fireworks, parades, barbecues, and patriotic displays: We're having a cookout for Independence Day.
The name also refers to the 1996 science fiction film about an alien invasion. (Lowercase independence day refers to any nation's such holiday.)
