Tartarus

Pit beneath Hades

Tartarus is the deepest region of the underworld in Greek mythology, far below Hades—a pit of torment where the Titans were imprisoned and where the wicked suffer eternal punishment.

The name appears in classical literature and theological contexts: Zeus cast the Titans into Tartarus.

It sometimes serves as a synonym for hell or a place of ultimate suffering.
