beatitude

State of perfect joy

Beatitude is a state of supreme blessedness or happiness.

The word appears most often in religious contexts, particularly in reference to the Beatitudes—the declarations of blessing that begin Jesus's Sermon on the Mount: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Outside scripture, beatitude describes profound spiritual joy or contentment: a look of beatitude on her face.
