T cell
Adaptive immunity soldier
A T cell is a type of white blood cell central to the immune system's response to infections and abnormal cells.
T cells mature in the thymus (hence the T) and come in several varieties: helper T cells coordinate immune responses, killer T cells destroy infected or cancerous cells, and regulatory T cells prevent the immune system from attacking the body's own tissues.
His T cell count dropped dangerously low.
