killer T cells

Lymphocyte death squad

Killer T cells are white blood cells that destroy infected or cancerous cells in the body.

Part of the immune system's targeted response, they recognize cells displaying foreign proteins and eliminate them directly—unlike antibodies, which mark threats for other cells to handle.

Also called cytotoxic T cells.

The vaccine trains killer T cells to recognize the virus.
