chorale
Harmonized church song
A chorale is a hymn tune, especially one from the German Protestant tradition associated with Bach and Lutheran worship.
The term also refers to a choir or choral group: The university chorale performs three concerts each semester.
In its hymn sense, chorales are characterized by simple, stately harmonies meant for congregational singing.
