seder

Exodus commemoration dinner

A seder is any of various Jewish ceremonial dinners, especially the ritual meal held on the first night or two nights of Passover.

The meal follows a specific order of prayers, readings from the Haggadah, symbolic foods, and songs that retell the story of the Israelites' exodus from Egypt: We're hosting seder this year. (Capitalized Seder is the same word, often capitalized because of its religious significance.)
