parallelism
Matching grammatical forms
Parallelism is the use of similar grammatical structures in a series or pair: government of the people, by the people, for the people.
Good parallelism creates rhythm and clarity; faulty parallelism jars: She likes hiking, swimming, and to bike mixes forms awkwardly.
Beyond grammar, parallelism describes any arrangement of corresponding elements—parallel lines in geometry, parallel processing in computing, or parallel developments in history that unfold similarly without direct connection.
