Song of Solomon

Lover's scriptural dialogue

Song of Solomon is a book of the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament, also called Song of Songs or Canticles.

It consists of erotic love poetry between two lovers, celebrating physical desire and romantic devotion: His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend.

Its place in religious scripture has prompted centuries of allegorical interpretation—as God's love for Israel or Christ's love for the Church—though the plain text is frankly sensual.
