Deuteronomy

Fifth Mosaic book

Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament, completing the Torah or Pentateuch.

The name means "second law," as the book recounts Moses delivering laws and speeches to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land.

It includes the Shema, Judaism's central declaration of faith, and Moses's death narrative.
