Sunni Muslims
Largest Islamic denomination
Sunni Muslims are adherents of the largest branch of Islam, comprising roughly 85% of Muslims worldwide.
The name derives from *Sunna*, the traditions and practices of the Prophet Muhammad.
Sunnis accept the historical succession of the first four caliphs after Muhammad's death, distinguishing them from Shia Muslims, who believe leadership should have passed directly to Muhammad's family.
The mosque serves the local Sunni Muslim community.
