disbeliever

One who questions

A disbeliever is someone who does not believe—particularly in religious doctrine or a deity.

The term appears most often in religious contexts, where it may carry judgment: The preacher warned that disbelievers would face damnation.

More neutrally, it describes anyone who rejects a particular claim: She remained a disbeliever in the company's turnaround plans.
