Mogadishu
Horn of Africa capital
Mogadishu is the capital and largest city of Somalia, located on the Indian Ocean coast.
The city has ancient roots as a trading hub but became widely known in the West through the 1993 "Black Hawk Down" incident, when U.S. military helicopters were shot down during a mission there.
The situation in Mogadishu has stabilized somewhat in recent years.
