Malcolm X
Malcolm X was an American civil rights leader and Black nationalist minister, born Malcolm Little in 1925 and assassinated in 1965.
He advocated Black self-determination and rejected integration, famously contrasting with Martin Luther King Jr.'s nonviolent approach.
His autobiography, dictated to Alex Haley, remains influential.
The X replaced his surname, which he considered a slave name.
