Nation of Islam

Farrakhan's religious organization

The Nation of Islam is an American religious and political movement founded in 1930, combining elements of Islam with Black nationalist ideology.

It teaches that Black people are the original humans and advocates racial separation, economic self-sufficiency, and moral discipline.

Malcolm X was its most famous member before breaking with the organization.

Under Louis Farrakhan's leadership since 1981, it remains controversial for antisemitic rhetoric while maintaining influence in some Black communities.

The Nation of Islam differs significantly from mainstream Sunni and Shia Islam in theology and practice.
