Birmingham

Alabama's largest city

Birmingham names two major cities.

The original is England's second-largest city, an industrial center known historically for manufacturing.

The American Birmingham, in Alabama, was a hub of the civil rights movement—site of the 1963 church bombing and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail." We're driving through Birmingham on the way to Atlanta.
