M4 carbine
Compact assault weapon
The M4 carbine is a compact, lightweight assault rifle used by U.S. military forces since the 1990s.
It fires 5.56mm NATO ammunition and features a shorter barrel than the M16 rifle from which it derives, making it better suited for close-quarters combat and vehicle operations.
The M4 has selective fire capability, allowing semi-automatic or burst/automatic modes.
Standard issue for most Army and Marine infantry units.
