Harun al-Rashid
Harun al-Rashid was the fifth Abbasid caliph, ruling from 786 to 809 CE during what's often considered the Islamic Golden Age.
His reign saw Baghdad flourish as a center of learning, trade, and culture.
He appears as a recurring character in *One Thousand and One Nights*, wandering the streets of Baghdad in disguise—an image that made his name synonymous with enlightened but adventurous rulership.
