Caligula

Infamous Roman ruler

Caligula was a Roman emperor (37–41 AD) whose brief reign became synonymous with cruelty, debauchery, and madness.

Stories of his excesses—appointing his horse as consul, demanding worship as a god—made his name shorthand for tyrannical insanity: The CEO ran the company like Caligula, firing people on whims.

He was assassinated by his own guards.
