plasma screen

Gas-lit television panel

A plasma screen is a type of flat-panel display that creates images using small cells of ionized gas—plasma—that emit light when electrically charged.

Plasma screens were prized for their deep blacks and wide viewing angles, dominating the large-screen TV market in the early 2000s before being largely replaced by LCD and LED technology.
