floppy disks
Vintage data squares
Floppy disks is the plural of floppy disk, a magnetic storage medium once standard in personal computing.
The flexible plastic disk inside a protective casing gave the format its name, though later 3.5-inch versions had rigid shells.
Floppies held modest amounts of data—typically under two megabytes—and were displaced by CDs, USB drives, and cloud storage.
I found a box of old floppy disks in the attic.
