Angles

Britain's Germanic colonizers

The Angles were a Germanic tribe from the region of Angeln in present-day Germany who migrated to Britain in the fifth and sixth centuries.

Along with the Saxons and Jutes, they formed the basis of Anglo-Saxon England.

Their name gives us "England" (Angle-land) and "English." (Lowercase angles refers to geometric shapes or perspectives.)
