Scots

Tartan-wearing folk

Scots refers to the people of Scotland or their distinctive language, a Germanic tongue closely related to English but with its own vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar: Scots wha hae wi' Wallace bled.

As an adjective, Scots describes things Scottish: Scots law, Scots pine.

The language is sometimes called Broad Scots to distinguish it from Scottish English.

Scots also names Scotch whisky in informal speech.
