Visigoths
Gothic tribal confederacy
The Visigoths were a Germanic people who played a major role in the fall of the Roman Empire.
They sacked Rome in 410 CE and later established a kingdom in what is now Spain and southern France.
In casual use, Visigoth suggests barbarism or cultural destruction: The renovators went through that Victorian house like Visigoths.
