uplinking

Beaming data up

Uplinking is the process of transmitting data or signals from a ground station to a satellite or spacecraft.

The term comes from telecommunications, where the uplink is the signal path from Earth upward: The crew began uplinking the new software to the satellite.

It contrasts with downlinking, which is transmission in the opposite direction.
