cell phone
Handheld wireless device
A cell phone is a portable telephone that connects wirelessly through a network of transmission towers, each covering a geographic "cell." The term emerged to distinguish mobile phones from landlines, though as landlines fade, phone increasingly defaults to cell phone.
Also called mobile phone, especially in British English.
