tallit
Fringed ritual garment
A tallit is a Jewish prayer shawl, traditionally white with black or blue stripes, worn during morning prayers and on Yom Kippur.
It has fringes (tzitzit) at each corner as commanded in the Torah.
Some Jews wear a smaller version (tallit katan) under their clothes throughout the day.
He draped the tallit over his shoulders before the service began.
