clerical collar
Minister's white band
A clerical collar is a stiff white band worn around the neck by Christian clergy, fitting into a collarless shirt or vestment.
The distinctive white strip visible at the front gives rise to the informal name "dog collar." It serves as an immediate visual identifier of religious vocation, worn by priests, ministers, and other ordained clergy across Catholic, Anglican, and some Protestant denominations.
The pastor loosened his clerical collar after the long Sunday service.
