stole

Long fur wrap

Stole has two distinct origins.

One is the past tense of steal: Someone stole my bike.

The other is a garment—a long, narrow scarf or shawl worn draped over the shoulders, typically made of fur, silk, or fine fabric: She wore a mink stole to the opera.

Clergy also wear stoles as liturgical vestments.
