twisted
Wound and distorted
Twisted describes something that has been turned or wound around itself, forming spirals or contortions: twisted rope, a twisted ankle.
The word extends to things that are distorted or warped: a twisted version of events.
Most commonly now, twisted describes a mind or personality that is perverse, cruel, or deviant: That's twisted, a twisted sense of humor.
Something can be twisted in an entertaining way—dark comedy is often called twisted—or in a genuinely disturbing one.
