squat rack
Weightlifting safety frame
A squat rack is a piece of weight training equipment consisting of two upright posts with adjustable horizontal supports to hold a barbell at various heights.
The lifter positions themselves under the bar, lifts it from the supports, performs squats or other exercises, then returns the bar to the rack.
Safety bars or spotting arms catch the weight if the lifter fails a rep.
Also called a squat stand or power rack (when fully enclosed with four posts).
