pince-nez
Earless reading glasses
Pince-nez are eyeglasses held on the nose by a spring clip rather than earpieces.
The French name means "pinch nose." The style was common in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and now appears mainly in period pieces: The professor adjusted his pince-nez and peered at the manuscript.
