tableau
Striking arranged scene
A tableau is a striking visual arrangement, especially a frozen scene or grouping of people and objects.
In theater, performers hold still to create a tableau—a living picture.
The word extends to any vivid, composed image: The sunset created a tableau of color across the valley.
In data analysis, a tableau presents information visually for interpretation.
The plural is tableaux or tableaus. (Capitalized Tableau is the data visualization software.)
