sins
Breaks divine law
Sins is the plural of sin, which in religious contexts refers to acts that violate divine law or moral principles.
Christianity speaks of original sin, the fallen state inherited from Adam and Eve.
Beyond religion, sin describes any serious wrongdoing or transgression: His sins caught up with him.
The verb sin means to commit such an act: We have all sinned at some point.
Informally, something can be a sin if it's a waste or shame: It would be a sin to throw out all this food.
