lust

Burning bodily want

Lust is intense sexual desire—a powerful physical craving for someone: He looked at her with undisguised lust.

The word extends to any consuming appetite or longing: lust for power, lust for gold, bloodlust.

To lust after someone is to desire them sexually; to lust after something is to crave it intensely.

In religious contexts, lust is one of the seven deadly sins.
