shako

Cylindrical parade cap

A shako is a tall, cylindrical military hat with a visor and plume, worn primarily in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The distinctive headgear became iconic of Napoleonic-era armies and later ceremonial units: The marching band wore shakos with towering white plumes.

Plural: shakos or shakoes.
