dragoon

Bully into compliance

A dragoon is a mounted infantry soldier, historically one who could fight on horseback or on foot.

The verb to dragoon means to coerce or force someone into doing something, from the practice of using dragoons to suppress civilian populations: They dragooned him into helping with the move.

The coercive sense now dominates everyday usage.
