cadence
Measured speech pattern
Cadence is the rhythmic flow or pattern of sounds, especially in speech or music.
A speaker's cadence combines pace, pitch, and pause: the measured cadence of a funeral march, her voice rising and falling in familiar cadence.
In music, cadence also means a sequence of chords that brings a phrase to rest.
Military cadence is the rhythm of marching, or the chants that keep soldiers in step.
Extended to any rhythmic pattern: the cadence of waves, the cadence of daily routines.
