balmoral
Closed-lacing walking boot
A balmoral is a type of laced boot or shoe with a closed throat, where the quarters meet at the front under the vamp.
The style is considered more formal than open-laced shoes: He wore black balmorals with his suit.
The term also refers to a brimless Scottish cap, typically wool with a pompom on top. (Capitalized Balmoral is the royal estate in Scotland.)
