Budapest

Pest plus Buda

Budapest is the capital and largest city of Hungary, situated on the Danube River.

The city formed in 1873 from the merger of three towns: Buda and Óbuda on the hilly western bank, and Pest on the flat eastern side.

Known for thermal baths, ruin bars, and ornate architecture, Budapest serves as Hungary's political, cultural, and economic center.
