sell
Trade for money
To sell is to exchange something for money: We sold the house last spring.
More broadly, sell means to persuade someone to accept an idea or course of action: He sold me on the plan.
If something sells, it finds buyers: The book sold well.
A hard sell uses aggressive tactics; a soft sell is gentler.
To sell out is to betray principles for profit, or to have all tickets or inventory purchased.
To sell someone short is to underestimate them.
