quisling

Enemy's domestic helper

A quisling is a traitor who collaborates with an occupying enemy force, especially one who serves in a puppet government.

The word comes from Vidkun Quisling, who headed Norway's collaborationist regime under Nazi occupation during World War II.

Unlike broader terms for traitor, quisling specifically implies betraying one's country to a foreign power: The minister was denounced as a quisling for cooperating with the invaders.
