cartouche
Pharaoh's name border
A cartouche is an oval or oblong frame, originally used in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics to enclose the name of a royal figure.
In architecture and decorative arts, a cartouche is an ornamental tablet or panel with a scrolled frame, often containing an inscription or emblem: The building's façade featured an elaborate cartouche above the entrance.
The word also refers to a paper cylinder holding a charge for a firearm—an older sense now largely replaced by "cartridge."
