native resolution
Screen's true pixels
Native resolution is the fixed pixel count a display or image sensor is designed to operate at—the number of physical pixels built into the hardware.
A monitor with 1920×1080 native resolution has exactly that many pixels; displaying other resolutions requires scaling, which can reduce sharpness.
For the best picture quality, run your monitor at its native resolution.
Cameras similarly have a native resolution determined by the sensor's pixel array.
